«Es posible crear una organización industrial del trabajo en la cual se pueda desarrollar y compartir conocimiento» Bernard Stiegler

por Juan Pablo Anaya

«Twenty years ago there appeared a particular kind of writing based on computers—digital logic and symbolic machines—producing writing in a new way, that is, in an industrial way, at the speed of light, and based on software. This produced a change, an organological change, in the organization of capitalism.

And personally I discovered this just after I became aware of this reticular capitalism, when I became the head of IRCAM, which is an institution dedicated to music in France. There were seventy developers and researchers in computer science dedicated to music, and they wanted to develop this only within a free-software organization. And I became convinced, in this organization, that in the end it was possible to create an industrial organization of work not based on proletarianization, but on the contrary on the development and sharing of knowledge by the workers.

And this was for me absolutely new. Because my background is Marxist. And I was myself a communist militant. I became a philosopher from that background, and I discovered in these free-software movements not only an organization of work but also a new political vision of the future. A new struggle within the economy, for what I would later call a contributive economy.

When you ask me about this new stage of capitalism, I answer that it is a pharmacological question.”
